Your Coach,
Eryk
A bit of a different fella with a passion to serve others in their transformative journey, however big that journey is.
Deep dive, lets go.
Born in Canada, raised in a first-generation immigrant household. Felt different from the get-go with the heavy divide between what was expected within his family home and what was experienced outside of it.
Fast forward the folly-ridden nerdy kid phase in elementary and middle school, Eryk began to trade his time from computer gaming to practice and play in sports, mainly basketball. In high school, basketball was his primary identity, also at this time he sought out the beginnings of his fitness journey in the weight room. His efforts led him on the roster to play collegiate basketball and be trained by highly accredited coaches and athletic trainers. Shortly after the post-college athlete stage, Eryk grew in his fascination and appreciation for overall fitness and the feats the human body can do. However, giving up his daily basketball-obsession and going “all in” on education left him with mental and emotional dismay commonly known as post-athlete depression. In it came a loss of identity, loss of purpose, and mixed feelings of inadequacy.
To mitigate, Eryk gained a vast interest in the fields of psychology, philosophy, and spirituality which “shined a light in the dark tunnel he was walking through” so to say. Within him emerged new passions, developing feelings of purpose and a plan for life which involved serving others. This led him to spend a year and a half solo-travelling around Europe, India, and Nepal, not for hedonistic purposes, but as a search “soul searching” to investigate the vast world and all of its unique people and techniques to “survive and thrive”. While travelling, different mental and emotional strategies began to interest him such as meditation and Yoga which led him to complete his yoga teacher certification through a two month Training in Rishikesh, India dubbed the “Yoga Capital of the World”. This training, alongside his time sitting by the Hindu-holy men along the revered Ganges River was followed by his first official meditation course. This is where Eryk deep dove into the practice of Vipassana meditation with a training consisting of 10-days of silent Vipassana meditation, 10 hours a day, in a monastery within the deep hill’s of Kathmandu, Nepal. These events were transformative in Eryk’s experience, laying a new foundation for the “Mental Fitness” component he would later include as part of his services with ERYKFIT.
Upon returning to Canada, Eryk was met with a heavy phase of reintegrating with Western society after his cultural shock experience living overseas. Due to hands-on experiencing the vast contrast within the psyche and philosophy of people in the East versus the West. Yet again he found solace in physical training, mental training, helping others, however he felt he needed to do something about the weird “disintegrated” feeling with society. To alleviate this weirdness he completed a Bachelor of Technology degree and worked alongside office professionals doing computer design work. Followed by over a years experience working in the Skilled Trades as an Electrician while studying and attaining his certification for personal training along with some private training on the side. All of these post-graduate ventures served as experience “living and working in other people’s shoes”— a way of better understanding people and to be able to serve them from a place where there would be more relatability, in turn, comfort with a coach who understands a little more diversely. He then went all-in on his business venture serving people of any and all demographics, occupational backgrounds, and their varied desires whether of the body or mind.
Fast forward to present day, Eryk formed ERYKFIT as a means to supply the WORLD with services in physical fitness, mental fitness, and mindset work. These three components were all that Eryk had to battle, fail, overcome, surpass, succeed and continue in on his own. He studied, experimented, and applied various methods and modalities that work with different circumstances to gain a holistic approach in serving anyone that would later, now, come to him for help.
